The lightness of flight, inspired by heritage
Silkavia is an airline that connects the cities of Uzbekistan with comfortable, affordable domestic flights. Our task was to create a complete visual brand system that would reflect the national character and set the airline apart from competitors.
Silkavia embodies lightness, progress and the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan. It was important not just to show national character in a modern way, but to create functional design that still fits the familiar design codes of the airline industry.
Our team developed the airline’s entire visual identity system, from the logo to the aircraft livery and the uniforms for pilots and cabin crew. Because Silkavia flies domestic routes, we wanted the design concept to convey national character. So we built the style on Uzbek national motifs and gave them a fresh interpretation.
The livery was inspired by khan-atlas, a fabric that is one of the hallmarks of Uzbek craft. The image of a flowing khan-atlas scarf fits the name Silkavia perfectly: the airline offers flights across the country that are as smooth as silk, with passenger comfort at the center.
The fabric’s pattern creates the effect of cloth billowing in the wind and gives the livery its dynamism. The silk scarf runs from the middle of the fuselage to the tip of the tail. Like the logo, the flowing livery became part of the brand’s wider design system.
Silkavia’s core mission is to connect the cities of Uzbekistan, and we expressed this in the logo. An arc around the name joins the letter “i” at the top and bottom, symbolizing continuous flight routes. Together they frame the logo in an image of flying that everyone understands: the cabin window. The window theme carries through the wider visual communication system.
The brand palette is built on red and dark red, evoking the tulip and the pomegranate. The secondary colors are all the shades of the khan-atlas pattern on the livery. We extended the cabin window theme across brand applications, where its outline frames container shapes in various layouts.
Silkavia now has a visual system that sets it apart from competitors and highlights what makes the airline unique, along with its mission to connect the cities of Uzbekistan. Inspired by cultural heritage and contemporary design thinking, the new look has become a symbol of comfort and part of a new chapter in the country’s aviation.
