Uzbekistan’s first American university
Webster University’s original visual language was static and literal. Its applications looked disjointed, and the system lacked the rules to express the brand’s core idea: a global outlook, breadth of vision and a pioneering spirit.
We did not change Webster. We changed the way we look at it. We took the arc from the logo and turned it from a fixed element into a living principle that ties all communication together without limiting variety. A single arc became a tool that explains change and makes it visible.
The arc works like a lens. First it gathers attention and focuses it on what matters most, then it widens the view to show more.
In Focus mode, we tighten the composition: concentrating meaning, sharpening the emphasis and leading the viewer to the main message.
In Projection mode, the lens opens up: the horizon widens and Webster’s values reach beyond the campus, into the city, industry and the world.
Headlines follow the path of the arc: in Focus mode, a concave curve and a tighter rhythm; in Projection mode, a convex curve and more white space. This is how the arc grows from a technical device into an expression of the brand idea.
We made the photography feel like a “wide view,” using an ultra-wide fisheye effect, rounded forms and a panoramic sense of space and depth in the frame.

In Focus mode, attention gathers at the center: the frame feels tighter and brings out what matters. In Projection mode, the image opens up instead, with more space at the edges and a sense of an expanded horizon.

We also allowed for a more conventional style of photography without the fisheye, keeping the same campus atmosphere: natural light, bright colors and energy.
The outcome is a coherent, flexible and recognizable system in which a single graphic device becomes a living language. We kept Webster recognizable and gave the brand a tool to focus attention on people and open up new horizons.
